Chef Woo and Chef Joann met while studying together at the French Culinary Institute in New York and bonded over their similar backgrounds. Over the years, they have remained close friends strengthened by their shared passion for fusing classic French, Korean, and American cooking ingredients and techniques.
And in the Spring of 2019, they finally decided to bring to life years of conversations, ideas, hopes, and dreams by opening BLOOM.
Chef Woo’s passion for cooking started at an early age, cooking alongside his mother in South Korea. His dream of becoming a professional chef that led him to attend the French Culinary Institute (FCI) in New York City.
His professional experience includes working for over six years at the world-renown restaurants Jean-Georges, Daniel, and Morimoto in New York City.
After moving to New Jersey with his family, he became the executive chef at Prime and Beyond, an upscale steakhouse which help gained him a strong following with rave reviews.
Chef Joann brings over ten years of professional cooking experience.
She is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute (FCI), in addition to having taken professional chef courses at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA),
Her work experience includes acting as the event organizer of private parties and various significant events while serving as the executive chef. She specializes in French, American, and Korean cuisine, and puts a heavy emphasis on healthy eating, natural and organic cookery.
